As the “Belt and Road Initiative” progresses, China’s enterprises have been facing with different legal environments and regulatory requirements when doing business in foreign countries and regions. Transactions cannot be successfully conducted without lawyers providing professional legal support. Global Chinese Speaking Lawyers' Association (GCLA) was created to serve this monumental need. This is the world's first international legal professional platform with Chinese-speaking lawyers as main members. To echo the “Belt and Road Initiative”, GCLA integrates Chinese-speaking legal resources and provides legal support for the Chinese enterprises and citizens who “go global” to conduct business. Moreover, GCLA also provides a platform for overseas Chinese-speaking lawyers to participate in the “Belt and Road Initiative”, and share the fruits of China's economic development.
v Organizational Structure of GCLA
GCLA adopts the structure of “One Association – Two Platforms”, setting up the Qianhai “Belt and Road” Legal Service Association (B&R Association) in the Mainland and the Global Chinese-speaking Lawyers’ Association Limited in Hong Kong (GCLA HK) to be jointly in charge of GCLA’s operation.
v Scope of Service: Members around the world, especially the ODI destinations of Chinese enterprises and countries along the Belt and Road.
v Target Members: lawyers, in-house counsels, scholars and law firms that may apply Chinese as a working language.
v Nationalities of current members: China, South Africa, Israel, Jordan, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Korea, Japan, Singapore etc.
